MH Outlanders Weapon Tier List – Best Weapons (Nov 2026)

Four published Monster Hunter Outlanders weapon rankings agree that Heavy Bowgun and Bow are the strongest launch weapon types, while Hammer and Lance sit at the bottom. We mapped each list to a common 0–100 scale and averaged them, so the tiers reflect published opinion rather than our own damage testing.

How the weapon consensus score works

The four sources use different scales: Game8 uses SS / S / A / B, while Yahoo Tech, gacha.gg and mobi.gg use S / A / B. We map each source’s own scale linearly from its top grade (100 points) to its bottom grade (0 points), then average the available placements. That gives a four-tier list and a three-tier list the same weight.

The four lists provide 32 possible placements for eight weapon types, of which 31 are actual. gacha.gg had no Charge Blade placement on the collection date and said it would add the weapon after launch. We do not treat that absence as a bottom grade; we add a neutral 50 for that one source and mark the imputation in the table below. The snapshot was collected on 4 November 2026.

Weapon tier list at a glance

Weapon cutoffs are S ≥ 70, A ≥ 40, B below 40. The three-way tie at 66.7 is broken alphabetically for display only; the scores are equal to one decimal place. A 0.0 does not mean a weapon is unusable — it means every source in this sample placed Lance in its bottom grade.

S tier: Heavy Bowgun and Bow

Heavy Bowgun scores 87.5 with the top grade on Game8, gacha.gg and mobi.gg. Game8 uses SS for it; Yahoo Tech is the lone A, and its note cites weaker damage after beta nerfs. Even with that A, Heavy Bowgun leads the list because the other three sources are unanimous at the top. Pepper is the named adventurer who uses it, and the weapon’s identity is aerial control and paralysis rather than raw uptime.

Bow scores 83.3 with S on Yahoo Tech, gacha.gg and mobi.gg, and A on Game8. The 4.2-point gap to Heavy Bowgun is almost entirely Game8’s lower grade; the other three lists put both weapons in the same top tier. Bow is the more mobile ranged option, with piercing shots and two named users, Luka and Madelyn. If you want a ranged main and you prefer mobility over control, Bow is the consensus alternative.

A tier: Charge Blade, Great Sword, Long Sword and Dual Blades

Charge Blade is Fated Adventurer only at launch and has no named adventurer using it in our data. Game8 and Yahoo Tech place it in S, mobi.gg in A, and gacha.gg has no placement. With the disclosed neutral 50 for gacha.gg, Charge Blade scores 66.7. That is the highest A score and the most uncertain entry on the page: two sources see a top-tier weapon, one sees an A, and one has no opinion in the sample.

Great Sword scores 66.7 with S on Game8 and Yahoo Tech and A on gacha.gg and mobi.gg. True Charged Slash has full Super Armor, which is the kit’s defining trait. Luxheart and Pyro are the named users; their adventurer tiers differ sharply, which is a useful reminder that weapon strength and character strength are separate questions.

Long Sword also scores 66.7, with the same S / S / A / A pattern as Great Sword. Counter-based Spirit Gauge play is the identity. Midori and Ryunosuke use it; Midori is the top adventurer in the consensus ranking, so Long Sword is the weapon most likely to be recommended for a strong main rather than for its own grade alone.

Dual Blades score 45.8 with A on all four lists. That unanimity is why it clears the A cutoff despite the lower raw score: Game8’s four-tier scale gives A only 33.3 points, while the three-tier lists give A 50. gacha.gg calls Dual Blades the best melee weapon on paper, and three named adventurers use it — Haze, Keres and Raya — the most of any weapon type.

B tier: Hammer and Lance

Hammer scores 20.8. Game8 and Yahoo Tech place it in A, while gacha.gg and mobi.gg place it in B and note that Heavy Bowgun stuns more reliably. The weapon’s identity is stun pressure, and Rhodes is the only named user. The grade split is about reliability, not about whether Hammer can stun.

Lance scores 0.0 because all four lists place it in B. That is the clearest consensus on the page, and it is a consensus about damage rather than safety: Lance is described as the safest defensive weapon, but every source ranks its damage at the bottom of the eight types. Arkaya and Ouyang Varen use it. If you value the shield playstyle, the 0.0 is a warning about clear speed, not a claim that the weapon cannot finish hunts.

Which weapon goes with which adventurer

Weapon type is locked to the adventurer, so the practical question is not only “which weapon is S tier” but “which S-tier weapon can my main use.” The table below maps the eight weapon types to the named users in our data.

The pairing makes the trade-off visible. Heavy Bowgun is the top weapon, but its only named user is Pepper, an A-tier adventurer. Long Sword is an A-tier weapon, but Midori — the only 100.0 adventurer — uses it. The adventurer tier list ranks the characters; this page ranks the weapon types. Neither list is a complete answer on its own.

Charge Blade and the missing placement

Charge Blade is the one weapon where the consensus method needed a disclosed assumption. gacha.gg ranked seven weapons and did not include Charge Blade on 29 October 2026; the page said the weapon would be added after launch. Two options were available: drop gacha.gg from the Charge Blade average, or add a neutral midpoint for the missing entry. We chose the midpoint and disclose it, because dropping a source would silently change the scale for one weapon only.

The result is still sensitive to that choice. If Charge Blade were averaged over three sources only, it would score 72.2 and land in S; with the neutral 50 for gacha.gg, it scores 66.7 and lands in A. We keep the A because the neutral midpoint is the more conservative reading of a missing opinion, and we show the calculation so you can disagree with it. When gacha.gg adds Charge Blade, the next revision will replace the imputation with a real grade.

Where the four sources disagree

• Heavy Bowgun vs Bow. Three lists put both in their top tier; Game8 separates them with SS for Heavy Bowgun and A for Bow. The gap is a single source’s judgment about post-beta damage, not a four-source consensus that Bow is worse by a tier.
• Hammer. Game8 and Yahoo Tech place Hammer in A; gacha.gg and mobi.gg place it in B and point to Heavy Bowgun’s more reliable stun. The disagreement is about reliability, and it is the reason Hammer sits in B rather than A.
• Charge Blade. Two S grades, one A and one missing entry. The A tier is a product of the imputation rule, not a unanimous verdict.

What this ranking does not claim

This page does not claim that Heavy Bowgun out-damages Bow by 4.2 points in a real hunt, that Charge Blade is worse than Great Sword, or that Lance cannot clear content. None of the four sources publishes raw measurements, and we have not run a controlled test. The scores are an average of published letters.

The launch window is also short. The game launched on 29 October 2026; the sources were published or updated between 29 October and 3 November. A weapon ranking built in that window is a snapshot of early opinion, not a settled meta. We will date every revision and keep the source table visible. A fifth page, mhoutlanders.wiki, publishes a provisional mechanics-only weapon ranking and states that live-game damage numbers are not yet verified. We left it out of the score for the same reason as the provisional adventurer list: it is a cross-check, not a fifth vote.
